My name is Catherine Johnson, the founder of Maravea. I am married to the love of my life. We have two sons in college and a male Golden Retriever. I am surrounded by men. And yet, I have always loved beautifully detailed, textured, feminine clothing.
In 2012, I had a dream about creating the elusive modern Southern sundress. However, I knew that the time was not yet right, as I still had both sons at home. In 2015, a new stage in my life began when my husband and I became empty nesters. It was then that I realized that my fear of not trying was greater than my fear of going for it. Encouraged by my faith and the support of my family, Maravea was born.
Growing up in the South, I spent my summers vacationing at the lowcountry beaches. They feel like home to me. It is where my heart is the happiest as I sense and feel God’s majestic beauty and presence. It is my hope that when you wear Maravea, you feel graceful and beautiful, perfectly modern and quintessentially Southern – the way I feel at home in the lowcountry.
